Vamizi Island
Key Facts
Overview
Like in the castaway tales of landing upon a desert island with unblemished beaches and not a single cloud in the sky, something Vamizi Island epitomises to the full, untouched by the modern world yet still holds first class comfort and luxury. This basically is rustic paradise on a different planet.
Placed probably by luck more than judgement, off the coast of Vamizi are arguably the best diving opportunities in the world due to the immense underwater valleys and rifts which are home to turtles, giant clams and countless species of coral to name just a few. Diving here is a certain must-do.
With conservation and exclusivity being in mind, only 13 roomy Villas make up Vamizi, with each one owning it’s own part of prime beach, spreading beds, sofas, marble shower and vanity area and outside, a sun deck. Vamizi holds true to its basic paradise so there’s no TV and air conditioning, just natural relaxation coming from the idyllic surroundings.
Dining offers you notable local seafood dishes, as well as other fresh and local tropical dishes to enhance the traditional Mozambican way of cuisine. Grills on the beach give that real castaway feel to romantic lantern lit dinners for that discerning couple. Lounges offer cocktails and fine wines, amongst the plush furnishings to which guests can unwind on the sofas as the sun sets over the horizon.
Vamizi Island is a nature reserve and thus protected, and works closely with projects that involves fellow island residents and every guest pays a small supplement as a conservation levy to help projects such as the Maluane Project which supports local fishermen on giving them more responsibility on how to protect fish numbers and teach sustainable fishing methods.
