Frégate Island Private
Key Facts
Overview
An island of outstanding natural beauty with giant, granite boulders rising from seven, white-sand beaches. Named for the Fregate bird, this small and exclusive island is four degrees south of the equator and is accessed by a twenty minute flight from Mahé.
This tropical paradise-like island is a protected, turtle haven and home to more than 400 free-roaming Aldabra Giant Tortoises. Guests may witness turtles laying eggs or newly-hatched turtles scrambling into the Indian Ocean at full moon. Both the critically endangered Hawksbill and the Green Turtle also frequent the island.
Frégate Island Private is the most-secluded island in the Seychelles. With a maximum of forty guests at any given time and no day visitors, Frégate guarantees an exclusive, island holiday. Guests are accommodated in 16 deliberately-casual yet super-luxurious native-mahogany villas; their tropical-look in harmony with the natural surroundings. Spacious interiors, state-of-the art technology and colonial-style furnishings compliment the large terrace and outdoor relaxation areas with day-beds and Jacuzzi's.
The island has its own source of fresh water and most of the vegetables, fruit and herbs are grown on the island. A team of gardeners cultivate organic produce on a plantation and in a hydroponic house. The stately and historic Plantation House Restaurant serves traditional Creole and local, island dishes. Fregate House is an alternative gourmet dining venue offering the Chef’s daily selection of fresh produce. Guests can also opt to dine in the privacy of their villa or the laid back beach bar.
In peak season, the Cast Away Club keeps young visitors entertained. The resort has a gym and library and offers a host of island activities and water sports.
