Alphonse Island Resort
Key Facts
Overview
Named after the group of atolls in which it is located, the exclusive Alphonse Island Resort has a well-deserved reputation as a multi–adventure destination. It is accessed by a one-hour, weekly scheduled flight from Mahé.
The resort has 20 spacious bungalows, each with a sea-facing veranda and spectacular views over Alphonse lagoon. The thatched-roof bungalows feature a mosquito-netted queen-size bed, a spacious en-suite bathroom with jacuzzi-bath and outdoor showers. Creature comforts include ceiling fans, direct-dial telephones as well as a a television and mini-bar.
Chefs display plenty of culinary diversity at alfresco theme evenings that include beach barbecues, Creole cuisine and a seafood harvest buffet – all accompanied by the finest South African wines.
Activities on offer at the resort include cycling, tennis, nature and reef walks, pedal boating, kayaking, snorkeling, scuba-diving and big game fishing. The expansive flats surrounding the atolls of Alphonse and St Francois provide the fly-fishing experience of a lifetime. These atolls are home to wonderful large populations of Bonefish, three different types of Trigger fish, eight species of Trevally, Snappers, Groupers, African pompano, Parrot fish and the Milkfish.
In the 1900s the relatively flat island was a coconut plantation - and it is this same absence of mountains that still ensures year-round, idyllic weather conditions.
