The Caribbean is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands, reefs, and cays scattered like bright, sun-drenched jewels in the Caribbean Sea. Cliches about the Caribbean abound, and they are all true. These islands really are picture perfect with palm-backed white beaches, crystal clear azure waters and year-round sunshine. What’s more the people are friendly and welcoming and the pace of life is laid-back and relaxed. Whatever you heaven is, five-star nothing with ice in a deckchair, full on adventure in the jungle or somewhere in between, you’re looking at the right destination.

After morning mists burn off to expose panoramas of valley and ocean, the Bajan landscape is one one of the most majestic in the southern Caribbean. Barbados is framed for its easy-going calypso culture; a strong sense of history and culture fuses with a laid-back vibe. Afternoon tea remains a tradition on Barbados, cricket is still the national sport and many Bajans speak with a British accent. The island is one of the best for a first time visit to the Caribbean as it has more to offer for its size than any other island. Many visitors then return to Barbados for more visits, till the island becomes a trusted friend.

Draped along Barbados’ Platinum (west) coast is a haven of timeless enchantments. The Colony Club is just 40 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes from the vibrant capital, Bridgetown. This AA 4-Diamond resort was once a private Colonial Club, and the conversion has successfully preserved its sense of history through architecture, décor and landscape.

Antigua, set in a stunning blue sea and circled by furls of pear white sand, is a place to kick back, drink coconut juice and relax amongst the friendly locals. If you can persuade yourself away from the beach, there is plenty do and see; this is the biggest and most sophisticated of the Leeward Antilles islands. Antigua is one of the heartlands of Caribbean sailing, you’ll find plenty of history in Nelson’s Dockyard, nature lovers will enjoy the wildlife in the National Parks and there’s Devil’s Bridge too; a natural phenomenon of colliding Atlantic and Caribbean surf.

Blue Waters nestles on the north-east corner of Antigua, where crystal clear Caribbean waters lap gently onto secluded white sandy beaches and the Blue Waters comprises everything an island paradise should be. Featuring a number of small, secluded beach coves, several freshwater pool and 17 acreas of lush tropical gardens, Blue Waters is ideally suited for those in need of lazy days spend lounging by the pool, sipping cocktails on the beach or relaxing with a good book under the shade of swaying palm trees.

With a ravishing beach in a secluded bay, set in a sweeping bay against a backdrop of rolling hills and lush tropical rainforest, two outstanding restaurants, an exceptional spa and a philosophy founded on generous service. Carlisle Bay is simply stunning.

St Lucia is fringed with vast stretches of classic white sand with lively beach bars but there are steep-sided hidden coves to discover, too. A growing golf scene, plantation history and day sailing keeps a wide range of visitors from honeymooners to families well-entertained. There are plenty of weekly events to join in with, as well; fish fries in the villages, markets and the famous Friday night entertainment at Gros Lslet.

The sensational landscape that protects Sugar Beach are some of the finest in the world, lending weight to the opinion that St Lucia is the Caribbean’s most romantic island. The towering Pitons are twin volcanic spires rising side by side, over 700m from the sea, and linked by the majestic Piton Mitan ridge. The area is a certified UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a visit to the valley of the Pitons is cited by Oprah magazine as the Number One things you must do in a lifetime. This is just the beginning.

As the name suggests, Cotton Bay is designed to offer guests a friendly, convenient community. Its numerous villas are designed to accommodate day guests, while butlers and maids are available to sweep your worries away. The optional butler-service is a speciality of Cotton Bay Village, and guests are provided with a mobile phone to contact them at your convenience; perhaps to arrange a barbecue on the beach or a sightseeing trip along the fabulous coastline.

Jamaica lies in the heart of the Caribbean Sea, tempting visitors to forget everything for a while along its 635 miles of white sand coastline and under its sun rays. Despite its central location, Jamaica is truly an island apart from the others in the Caribbean archipelago, boasting a beautiful mountainous interior ringed by a necklace of golden beaches lined with tall palms, a rich history and individual culture. With plenty of activities on offer from golf to swimming with dolphins, this island has everything the discerning traveller could wish for no matter how active you wish you holiday to be. This is a real gem of a destination.

The highly acclaimed Half Moon is an experience in its own right, complete with everything that you would expect, and so much more. A place where dreams are realised, and memories are made. Just minutes away from Sangster International Airport, Half Moon is a premier Caribbean resort which has continued to attract travellers over the last 50 years.

Jamaica’s north-coast Rose Hall Resort and Spa is located on the site of a former 18th century sugar plantation, and today continues to draw on that sweet Jamaica air. Rose Hall is located just 7 miles from the International Airport and 15 easy miles from Jamaica’s sublime Montego Bay. Subtly nestled amongst 400-acre of tropical paradise, the Rose Hall Resort is located between the stunning Blue Mountains, and the revered Caribbean Sea.
