Set on the east coast of Sri Lanka at Passikuda, Uga Bay is a boutique hotel set on an unspoiled beach with stunning views across Passikuda Bay and offers the perfect setting for a relaxing beach holiday. The resort fuses tropical and Mediterranean architecture to create a stunning and stylish resort in this wonderful bay and its semi-circular design ensures ocean views from virtually everywhere!

The hotel offers the ultimate beach retreat with impressive rooms split between four categories, which consist of Beach Studios, Ocean Studios, Bay Suites and the Beach Villa. Beach Studios are located on the ground floor while the Ocean Studios are located on the Upper floor to offer a better view. All rooms take advantage of the super ocean view, whilst the Beach Studios have direct beach access as well. The rooms have a private terrace or balcony, air-conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi, DVD player, Satellite TV, and other amenities. The private two-story Beach Villa, and the two bedroom Bay Suites each come with 24-hour butler service and private plunge pools. The Beach Villa also offers a furnished terrace, an outdoor bar and beach access.

The restaurant overlooks the infinity pool and serves a modern fusion of Mediterranean and Asian style cooking, using locally sourced ingredients, including many seafood dishes. The recognition of sustainable foods is a real importance to the hotel who help support the local fishing community. The ‘Uga’ dining experience takes diners on a culinary journey giving you the chance to sample a wide variety of foods. Picnics and private dining experiences can be arranged with prior notice, allowing you to enjoy a private setting. There is also a beach bar, for all day refreshments, light meals and snacks, along with a waiter service.

Activities extend from swimming at the infinity pool or in the sea to exploring the coastline by bicycle or on foot. You will be able to visit local fishing villages, colorful markets, and traditional Hindu temples and as well as the culture of today you can see the history of yesteryear – witness Batticaloa and the remains of the Dutch Fort from the early 1700’s, and the archaeology of the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Polannaruwa (8th – 12th century) with its giant Buddha statues. This is also one of the best locations to enjoy water sports in Sri Lanka – enjoy jet skiing, kayaking or windsurfing. The coral reefs are perfect for snorkeling, the deeper waters ideal for sailing and there are shipwrecks to explore while scuba diving, including the World War I shipwreck of the HMS Hermes. She was the very first purpose-built aircraft carrier in the world and was bombed by Japanese aircraft and sunk in the sea off of Batticaloa at a depth of 44m (145ft).

There is an unique underground Spa with a view of the sea, providing the latest treatments and therapies for your well-being. Therapists can provide massages based on local Ayurvedic traditional styles, as well as a range of European massages. Outdoor treatments are also available by the pool at the private cabanas.
