A luxury river property named after David Livingstone’s faithful friends and pallbearers. Located on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, this property lays claim to the best views of the Victoria Falls from the Zambian side, during the dry season.

The main lodge has 12 luxury “tree-houses” built into the canopy of giant ebony trees on the banks of the Zambezi River. Facilities at the lodge include a spectacular raised bar/lounge deck area with an open-air dining area, curio shop, swimming pool and lawns that sweep to the river edge. Meals are served alfresco, often around a campfire in the evening.

In addition to the main lodge, the property also features two private butler-serviced private houses, set in a lush semi-landscaped garden right on the banks of the Upper Zambezi River. These exclusive-use, air-conditioned luxury private houses have one double room with a bath and an outdoor shower and one twin room with a bath and indoor shower, a spacious kitchen, dining and lounge area with mini-bar. Each Chuma House has a generous outdoor entertainment and viewing deck with a barbeque area and private plunge pool. Chuma House bookings include a private service and safari crew: a chef to cook meals to order and a private guide, safari vehicle and boat. The houses are ideal for private parties or small groups.

Guests enjoy a range of activities and can choose from: guided tours of the Victoria Falls, game drives in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, sunrise or sunset river cruises, a cultural tour of Livingstone that includes the museum, a tour to a local village and a shopping excursion. Given the wide selection of activities and the fact that resident wildlife such as hippopotamus and elephant are likely to wander through the grounds, this all adds to the attraction of this elegant and secluded river retreat.
