BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST, UGANDA – DELUXE
Gorilla Forest Camp is a luxury tented camp perched on the side of a mountain in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. It overlooks the park in a southerly direction and is the ideal base for gorilla tracking and birding excursions in the park.
Accommodation is in eight double tents, raised on wooden platforms, each with en-suite facilities and hot and cold running water, WC, basin and unusually – a bathtub looking out onto the forest. Each tent has a spacious wooden verandah where guests can relax and/or enjoy a private meal. Gorilla Forest Camp offers a bar and dining cottage overlooking the rain forest, as well as a raised natural platform for open air dining. At night, a traditional African campfire is lit from where a lecture might be given by a visiting primatologist, gorilla briefings are undertaken or guests simply admire the myriad brilliance of Bwindi’s crystal clear mountain sky.
Gorilla tracking is a year-round activity, with no season as such. Experienced guides will accompany you on your tracking, which commence every morning from the park headquarters at 08:30. There is a daily maximum of 8 visitors to each gorilla group. The gorillas cover large distances overnight and they are never constantly in one area. Because of this, the time taken to track gorillas varies enormously, from as little as half an hour to as much as 9 hours. Once the gorillas are located, the group is allowed a maximum of one hour with them, after this guests return to camp.
Aircraft carrying a maximum of 6 people land approx. 40 mins away from the camp (for larger groups they must land 2½ hours away). By road from Kampala, it is at least a 10 hour drive.
GBP £260.00 per person per night based in a tented room (based on Low Season)
Fully inclusive of accommodation, activities, all meals, park fees, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages (excluding imported and premium drinks) and transfers to/from the airstrip.
Children are welcome but have to be 15 or over to participate in gorilla tracking
