Located in a private game reserve bordering Tanzania’s Tarangire National Park and the Masaai Steppe, Tarangire Treetops is a truly stunning boutique lodge. Set in rolling baobab-studded hills, the exclusive lodge has elevated views of the Great Rift Valley while Lake Manyara twinkles invitingly in the distance. Tarangire is the sixth largest park within Tanzania, being named after the Tarangire River that crosses the park. During dry seasons thousands of animals will migrate to the park from Manyara.
The lodge’s reception area and ample open-sided relaxation and dining areas are housed under the shade of a gigantic 700-year-old baobab tree and form the heart of lodge-life. Guests are drawn to the inviting rim-flow swimming, while the waterhole ensures a constant flow of wildlife to the lodge. The Camp and Park is much diverse than any others producing unique landscapes and vegetation that is not found anywhere else.
Natural materials merge seamlessly with contemporary African décor. The 20 treetop en-suite suites, each a generous 65 square metres in size, have large wooden balconies that overlook the Tarangire Sand River. Drop-down windows enable guests to enjoy a magnificent 180-degree view of the reserve from their mosquito-netted, four-poster bed.
Wildlife includes buffalo, lion, cheetah, leopard and large herds of elephant. The Landscape is dotted with famous termite mounds, the ones which are seen to be abandoned are home to dwarf-mongoose. With over 550 species the Park is welcoming to all bird enthusiasts will can expect to see a large amount of bird all year round, even in the dry season. Being located in a private game reserve enables the lodge to offers night game drives and well as day drives and bush walks. Sundowners, bush dinners and a Masaai cultural experience are also available to guests.
