TULI ENCLAVE, BOTSWANA – DELUXE
Mashatu Game Reserve is located in the Northern Tuli Game Reserve which is situated between the Tuli Safari Area, a national park in Zimbabwe and the Mapungubwe National Park, a World Heritage Site in South Africa. Mashatu comprises 40% of the Northern Tuli Game Reserve and it shares unfenced borders with both the South African and Zimbabwean national parks in the south and north respectively. This vast area forms part of a cross boundary wildlife conservation area protecting the substantial biodiversity of fauna and flora in this region.
Mashatu Lodge (Main Camp) is the more luxurious accommodation option. There are 14 air-conditioned luxury suites set along the camp’s perimeter and are designed to allow absolute privacy. The suites include a double bed and an extra-large single bed, together with a seating area that includes a single day bed, which makes this an ideal option for families with younger children.
A short 30 minute drive away is Mashatu Tent Camp, which is almost one with the environment. This tented camp is the leisure choice for the guest who seeks the ultimate one-on-one bush experience. Eight completely private tents are tucked under the branches of enormous trees, accessible via meandering pathways. The tents themselves are spacious and comfortable and large enough that adults need not duck to move around in. Each is mounted on a concrete platform and has its own private outdoor en-suite facilities, including W.C. and shower.
Mashatu is home to no less than seven of Africa’s “giants” – the African elephant, the lion, giraffe, the baobab tree, the eland, ostrich and the kori bustard. It is therefore fitting that these giants have a massive habitat, and some 29 000 hectares (72 000 acres) of pristine game land have been set aside as a refuge for these creatures.
