SELINDA – PRESTIGE
Zarafa Camp is located on the fringes of Zibadianja Lagoon in northern Botswana’s 320,000 acre Selinda Reserve. Zarafa’s wildlife experience is enhanced by the perennial waters of the Selinda Spillway, Linyanti Marshes and Zibadianja Lagoon – offering arguably the most diverse and scenically captivating locations in the region.
There is a tasteful balance at Zarafa with four spacious “marquis” style tents evoking the atmosphere of an original 1920’s safari. No attention to detail is spared, and yet Zarafa’s blend of sustainable operations and utter appreciation for the finest appointments make it Africa’s leading environmentally friendly luxury camp.
Each 100 square meter tent has a separate bedroom and lounge, with an en-suite bathroom complete with a deep copper bath. Indoor and outdoor showers and a private pool bring the relaxing atmosphere to the pinnacle of sumptuous style. It is perfect not only for those seeking an exclusive experience but also for small groups or families that wish to book an entire private camp. Each tent has a professional camera and lenses for each guest’s complementary use and enjoyment.
The main lounge is also under canvas with an emphasis on bringing the outside in. The tent is furnished with “campaign” style furniture and creates a feeling of yesteryear. There is also a library that houses a collection of prized African books. Pre and post dinner guests can relive the day’s exploits around the fire pit on the edge of the main verandah, with the wonderful African skies and stars above.
This is probably the greenest luxury camp in Africa with one of the best views anywhere in a highly productive wildlife area. The entire camp is powered by an efficient solar system. All vehicles are run on bio-fuel and the camp’s drinking water is purified on-site. Massages are available.
Fashioned of the same sentiment as Zarafa’s main camp, the Dhow Suites are the ultimate private retreat in northern Botswana. Operating entirely exclusively and catering to just four adults or 5 if the group includes a child, the Suites are hosted separately from main camp with private chef and staff.
Zarafa Camp is part of the Great Plains Conservation, which also operate Duba Plains Camp & Selinda Camp.
