CHOBE, BOTSWANA – DELUXE
There can be few natural wonders as synonymous with Africa’s raw wilderness as the great Chobe River. These waters divide Namibia’s Caprivi Strip from Botswana’s Chobe National Park, whilst the river’s exotic banks boast one of the densest populations of wildlife on the African continent. The Chobe National Park spans across some 11,000 km² of lush African bush, and is home to the largest populace of elephants in the world as well as prides of lion, massive herds of buffalo, elusive leopard, numerous species of planes game and prolific bird life, hippos and crocodiles in the waters below and Africa’s voracious fighting tiger fish.
Each of the 14 suites are relaxing and stylish yet so unique and courageous. The spaces are designed with a sense of African summer in mind with floor or ceiling windows in the suites to add the glorious views and wildlife within each of the rooms. Air conditioning is available at all times to keep the suite as cool as you want to help guests cope with the times of the year when the temperature is nearly unbearable. Guest areas are available on the upper deck where there is a dining room and a relaxing lounge area to spend afternoons after being out for your daily game drives. On the front deck there is a guest plunge pool and sun loungers to catch the sun while gazing at the stunning views on the banks of Chobe.
The Zambezi Queen has been designed and built in line with sustainable and responsible tourism principles in mind. The vessel uses a low emission power system which enables guests to enjoy the sounds of the bush undisturbed by the unwanted sounds of modern technology and a jet propulsion system rather than conventional propellers which reduces damage to the river bed and enables it to operate in very shallow water. Hot water is provided by solar panels which transfer the sun’s energy to storage boilers; taps and showers incorporate the most advanced water saving designs available and all used water is stored in holding tanks so as to prevent waste from being discharged directly into the river.
The Zambezi Queen offers 2 or 3 night itineraries with set departures on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Rates include transfers from Kasane or Impilila airstrip on the Namibian side (special arrangements can be made for other land transfer requirements); all meals; drinks and specially imported South African wines; water and land-based game viewing activities; tiger and bream fishing in season; bird watching from smaller boats and a cultural tour of a local village. A dedicated team of experienced guides, chefs and hands-on staff ensure a memorable experience for all guests.
The Zambezi Queen complements the land-based camps and lodges in Botswana perfectly and will enhance any itinerary.
