MOREMI, BOTSWANA – DELUXE
Chiefs Camp is found in the Mombo concession of the Moremi Game Reserve, it is known as the ‘Predator Capital of Africa’ meaning it is prime for game viewing and wildlife. Surrounding the camp is seasonal water, changing from dry flood plains with a high number of wildlife to a peaceful lagoon throughout the year. In this ‘predator capital’, mammals such as wild dog, lion, cheetah and leopard abound. Recently, black and white rhino have also been introduced to this concession, making it the only place in Botswana where these magnificent animals can be seen in their natural habitat. Chief’s Island is unique in that large numbers of plains-game and predators are found here throughout the year.
It is one of Africa’s most untamed and unexplored areas and undergoes constant seasonal change with lagoons, winding waterways, reed beds, mopani and acacia woodlands creating a rich landscape. The living areas of this camp have been built into the existing landscape, under a heavy canopy of mature Jackalberry, Sausage and Rain Trees.
The camp is lied in a jackalberry and sausage tree forest where all 12 luxury pavilions are located. Each of the suites has its own private deck where they can relax and view the amazing surrounds of Africa. They all have a choice of an indoor or outdoor shower within their en-suite bathroom. The camp shares a communal swimming pool where you can share a relaxing afternoon after your daily game drives.
All meals are freshly prepared with a personal service, the boma is the setting for after dinner drinks by the camp-fire and sumptuous meals add up to truly memorable experiences. The main deck area is split-level and offers expansive views over the floodplain to the north and the lower level of the deck has a very welcoming swimming pool.
Chief’s has an essence of remoteness and creates the impression that it is the only habitation in the delta and it is so seamlessly set into the landscape that there is often amazing game viewing at the camp. Game viewing opportunities include excursions in open-sided 4×4 vehicles and quiet mokoro canoe excursions along narrow delta channels during the flood season. Expert guides are always on hand to offer a wealth of wildlife knowledge to enhance these wondrous opportunities.
